The Mercenary Journal is a site
where I post reviews of movies,
soundtracks and literature related
to the horror and action genres.
I started it up in 2002. And to
celebrate the launch, I sponsored a
screening of "Friday the 13th Part
3, 3-D (1982)" that October at
Pottsville Cinemas, Pottsville, Pa.
The event would not have been
possible without the cooperation
and 3-D tech skills of theater
owner Andy Neff of Sunbury, who
passed away in February 2003.
The site has two mascots, who
I introduced in my first novel, "The
.40 Caliber Mouse," published in
2004.
   There's Roman, a Latin American
gun fighter who finds inspiration in
action movies. You'll find a few of
his favorites at ROMAN'S PICKS.
And there's Mazz -- the guy with
the gas mask and pick -- a madman
who has it out for the credit card
industry. He really digs grindhouse
fare -- slashers, zombies, cannibals
and other things go bump
in the night. For serious fans of this
stuff, there's MAZZ'S PICKS.

Stephen hangs out at the Blairstown, N.J. water mill, which is seen in "Friday the 13th (1980)."
And while I continue trying to
make further contributions to this
wonderful dark world, I'll keep the
light on here.
